Happy New Year from the Easternmost Point in the US
Twilight snow at the lighthouse
Happy New Year from the easternmost point in the US! We had snow falling this morning at West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Lubec, Maine.
I made sure to get out early to capture the lighthouse beam while the snow was falling during twilight. Falling snow or moisture in the air makes the beam visible like this, and shooting during twilight gives a nice balance of blue hour tones and brightness on the landscape.
Nikon Z7 with NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 S lens @ 93mm, f/4, ISO 64, 30 seconds.
The porch lights were overexposed so I had to take a second shot at a faster shutter speed and blend in the less-overexposed area.
I’m holding winter workshops here in a couple weeks and another in February, and Milky Way workshops here this summer. There’s only one spot left on my Newfoundland Icebergs & Landscapes workshop. Check out the workshop schedule.
Happy Shooting!
